How Herecade works
Herecade is a pocket arcade of short party games for people in the same real place: the same table, café, pub, park or library. Everyone plays on their own phone and talks out loud; the Herecade server keeps the shared clock and the scores.
Getting in
- Create a player. Choose Create player to get a temporary guest nickname tied to your browser. Opening the app and playing renew it; it expires after 6 hours of inactivity. There is no account, email, profile, chat or friend list.
- Pick your place. With your permission, Herecade picks the nearest mapped place within 10 km. You can also search known places by name or pick one of the public rooms. Each place has one shared room per game.
- Choose a game and Play now. A new room waits with its clock paused until anyone who has joined chooses Start for everyone. There is no host and no minimum number of players.
- Bring your table in. Show QR displays a QR code and a link to the exact place and game. Anyone who opens it joins the same room. Arrive while a round is running and you join the next one.
The games
Quick games
- Quick quiz
- Five multiple-choice questions, 20 seconds each, then a short reveal. Your first pick locks. Fresh scores every round.
- Light rush
- 30 seconds: tap the highlighted pad as fast as you can.
- Echo
- 60 seconds: watch the lights and repeat the sequence.
- Word hunt
- 90 seconds: connect neighbouring letters to find English words.
- Higher or Lower
- Eight card calls in about a minute. Keep your streak going.
- Closest Wins
- Five number guesses in two minutes. Points for getting close, more for an exact answer.
Bigger games
- Pub quiz
- Ten questions and ten minutes to answer and change your mind. Scores and answers stay hidden until time is up.
- Honest mistake
- Ten quick cases. Someone may be secretly answering wrong on purpose; spot who, or call Nobody.
- All Hands
- A short huddle links the phones at your table, then the crew clears one shared board together in 60 seconds. Everyone wins or misses together.
- Ballworks
- After the same huddle, the crew builds one marble machine over four short builds and earns a shared medal.
Fair play
Each phone is one entry. Please play fair: no looking up answers and no bots or scripts in rooms. Herecade does not check where you are, and a place in Herecade does not mean the venue endorses it.
